Lady bugs are one thing, but if you've got Asian lady beetles, you need to get rid of them. Not only will they destroy your garden, but they'll also swarm by the hundreds, and over run your home. Lady beetles don't like to be disturbed, so once they get in your home, they'll emit an obnoxious odor. Luckily, there are some steps you can take to get rid of them once and for all.

Remove Their Odor

Lady beetles emit that scent that reminds them where they want to be. They use the odor to attract other beetles, and mark their territory. One way to get rid of them is to remove their odor. Fill a spray bottle with water and add at least 20 drops of orange essential oil. Spray the baseboards, and around your windows and doors with the solution. It's also a good idea to spray any location where you find lady beetle activity. If you don't have access to orange essential oil, you can also use bay leaves, and cloves to get rid of the beetles. To use bay leaves or cloves as a spray repellent, fill a pan with water and add either the bay leaves or the cloves. Bring the water to a boil and then allow it to cool down. Pour the solution in the spray bottle and then use the same way you would the orange essential oil spray. You can also place whole bay leaves or cloves in your cabinets to keep the bugs away.

Spray Them Off Your Home

If you've got an infestation of lady beetles outside, you can use soap and water to get them off your the walls of your home. Fill a garden sprayer with water and add about ½ cup or dish detergent. Spray your walls with the solution to remove the bugs. Repeat whenever you see bugs on your walls.

Add Mums to Your Garden

If lady beetles have overrun your garden, it's time to reach for some natural repellents. Lady beetles don't like the smell of mums, so plant them in your garden. The mums will add color to your garden, and keep the lady beetles away at the same time. You can also plant mums in containers and set them on your patio to keep the bugs away from your doors.
